BOFA fails again (you were surprised?)

Well here is the latest BOFA fail. I was told (by BOFA) that since I lost my job I could qualify for a mortgage adjustment, rate adjustment, or at minimum a refinance.

So I call them up, and explain my situation, that I lost my job on October 30, and am doing some hourly contract work until the end of December.

They then tell me that I do NOT qualify for any loan assistance, because I HAVE NO INCOME (contract/self-employment doesn’t count) !! I was like, wait a minute, are you saying that if I walk down the street and get a job at Safeway, you will gladly adjust my interest rate etc? She was like yes, or if you are on unemployment, but you can’t qualify for that since you are doing contract work.

So again I clarified…If I just lost my job and got a shitty job, or unemployment, you will help me. But if I am just totally out of work, you will just let me default on my loan an start piling up the collection fees and destroying my credit?  YES.

Somehow, yet again, BOFA has surprised me with their lack of care for their customers.

I forgot to mention that they said that they only thing they could offer me was a “forbearance”, which would allow me to not have to pay my loan for a time, BUT THAT IT WOULD BE REPORTED TO THE CREDIT BUREAU THE SAME AS A NONPAYMENT! I was like, why in the hell would I do that when it has zero advantages over simply not paying!? I guess the “advantage” is that BOFA won’t call and harass you? Ridiculous!

Just get a job at safeway. Send in the paperwork. Get the refi – then quit. It would be fun quitting a job you didn’t want in the first place. Burn all the bridges then come in the next day and buy groceries like nothing happened.

Ugh, I’m so sorry you have to deal with them. We had to reopen a BofA account so we could cash checks drawn on a BofA account when our other bank was holding them for weeks at a time (since BofA won’t verify funds). We finally found a bank that we can “train” (after 2 consecutive deposits from the same company not bouncing they clear it – wow, logic – that’s crazy), that knows our names, and treats us like human beings and we were able to say “bye-bye” to BofA. I hate them. I’m sorry you have to deal with them at all. They suck.
