Latest BOFA Fail

Well BOFA has failed yet again. They have a history of screwing me over (just do a search in the upper right for “BOFA” for examples), so I don’t know why I am even surprised yet again.

So I get a letter from the “Customer Satisfaction Department”. At first I am thinking, oh wow, maybe someone finally became aware of my issues and have fixed them? NO! It’s actually a notice of them screwming me further!

It is a notice of increasing the APR on my credit card (the same card that they have been screwing me over with superfluous annual fees, etc), “because either you made a late payment or your balance exceeded your credit limit”. Neither of these have occured!

So they are increasing my APR to 19.99%. Get this, “You have the flexibility of rejecting the APR increase…if you reject the increase, your account remains subject to future APR increases to 27.24% if you are in default under the terms of your Agreement (e.g., if you make a late payment…You must call us and reject by Nov 6, 2009, or your rejection will not be effective”.

So let’s recap and summarize.

  • BOFA is taking advantage of people who do not read their mail, by basically saying “Hey we are going to drastically increase your APR unless you call us and tell us not to” – WTF??
  • If you “reject” this increase, if you give them any excuse at all, they are going to jack up your APR to almost 30% – again WTF?!

This is just ridiculous. I am setting a reminder right now to send that letter to the CEO of BOFA (according to my Google searches, this is the ONLY way to actually get a human to read your letter and do something) about my uncalled for annual fees, and this APR increase blackmail.

They have screwed me over so bad in the past… and everyone I know. Charles, it may cost to get rid of them but in the long run you’ll be better off. They are a horrible bank and I will continue to spread the word about them. You’re paying for their mistake of lending credit to illegals. Hey, someone has to pay for all that — Lord knows, the illegal Mexicans don’t! So let’s punish the hard working and reward those who don’t. The new American way!

Illegal immigration is tearing America apart and leading to the death of 12-25 Americans per day from the criminal acts of illegals. That is over 4,000 killed per year. Does Bank of America plan to reimburse the grieving families that suffer due to the illegal aliens BOA helps to stay in America?

According to federal law, it is a felony to knowingly aid and abet illegal aliens. This law goes unenforced as most of our immigration laws are.

This is not the only bank doing this. Banks all over are doing this crap. We have a credit card that hiked our interest rate up to 29% because we were a day late to pay. Because of THEIR error in the first place. Essentially our account was in limbo because of some lost cards and during this limbo we were unable to make payments online. And when we tried to make one on the phone they said they would charge us $20 to make one on the phone. BUT that they would speed up our account thing online and give us a GRACE PERIOD. Unfortunately there was NO RECORD of that phone call so they hiked it up to 29%. Luckily we get a crapload of Yahoo stock at the end of october so we’re paying it off.. so this 29% hike is only in effect for about 3 months. USAA pulled the same crap.. while they didn’t increase our rate (they have a policy that you have to be 60 days passed due before they’ll do that) and it was their fault admittedly. BUT they also said that it “couldn’t happen again or they’d have to increase our rate”. For THEIR mistake once again. It’s made us feel like we’ve been making a bunch of excuses but the bottom line is we shouldn’t have let ourselves get into this position. But now we are and they are fucking us every chance they get.
